SCRIPTURE

Without merit I am; all merit belongs to You.
To You, Lord, are all merits―by what tongue
have I power to praise You?

SPIRITUAL TEACHING

A man comes to Jesus. He says, “Jesus, I have an awful headache that never leaves me. Could you help me?”

Jesus says, “Sure, but first I will pose some questions. Do you drink a lot of alcohol?” Replies the man angrily, “I never touch that filthy stuff!”

“How about smoking?” The man says, “Smoking is disgusting! I've never in my life touched tobacco.”

“Do you,” Jesus inquires, “ever run around with other women but your wife?” “Of course not!” says the man, “What do you take me for? I refuse ever to be alone with any woman anywhere!”

“Do you ever say a bad word?” inquires Jesus. “No, no! I have never been one to say filthy things, never!”

Jesus speaks, “Do you have any bad thoughts?” “No, certainly not! I keep my mind full of only positive and kind thoughts.”

“Tell me,” Jesus says, “the pain in your head, is it a sharp, shooting kind of pain?” “Yes,” replies the man, “you have put it perfectly – sharp, shooting.”

Jesus looks at him seriously, and says, “Sir, I can help you. The prognosis is simple. Your trouble is you have your halo on too tight. All we need to do is loosen it a little bit, and you will be feeling much better – and so will those around you.”

Once there was a man who lived up to all his ideals;
he was impossible for anyone to get along with.
